In association with UNICEF, in the Institute we are donating 3.00 ‚¬ of each inscription to our course destined for kids affected by the crisis of Syria. This money will help to provide a safe education to the children in Syria devastated by the war.

The last year, UNICEF helped to the education of 2.239.884 Syria children affected by the war in the region.

At the moment, one of each three schools in Syria has been destroyed or is unusable due to the warlike conflict. This, added to the lack of essential materials of learning in the remaining schools, creates a significant barrier in the education of the children in the region.

The UNICEF objective this year is to help to provide a formal and safe education for 1.2 million children in Syria. This includes the provision of facilities, scholastic furniture, qualified teachers, rehabilitation, safe surroundings of learning and material students.

In the Institute of Photography we felt like privileged people of being able to work with UNICEF to reach this objective.

The 12 of May of 2017 in Aleppo, in the Arab Republic Syria, Abdullah of 15 years [appeared name] (down), study in a center of welcome supported by UNICEF for children who appear to the national examinations of degrees 9 and 12. Abdullah felt that everything lost it when its school in the south of Aleppo closed because of the war. He began to work in a farm property of a family to be able economically to maintain his parents. €œOur lives changed when one of the schools reopened in the beginning of this academic term, but we faced another difficulty; they were not masterful to help us to study. All had gone away€, explained Abdullah. Thanks to a retired professor of mathematics who reunited and trained university students of undergraduate course to help the children to prepare itself for the examinations, Abdullah and his friendly they could review the lessons and continue his learning. In the month of May they had to leave his home and to undertake a dangerous trip to appear to the examinations of Degree 9.

While the students of many parts of the world completed their academic term and vacation and the campings were prepared for, the children in Syria crossed the line of active, desperate conflicts to render the final exams of the school. In May and June of 2017, almost half million children realised their national examinations in all Syria. Approximately 10,689 children came from surrounded areas and difficult. This number was only a third of the 36,017 children who registered themselves to take the examinations. Many could not arrive at the examination centers since he was too dangerous or the access through the control posts was not allowed them. These determined children risked their lives, crossing numerous control posts where they were interrogated by armed men. Many left their families back and had to walk single during hours to arrive at the examination centers. Some of these children have more been outside the school during a year or due to the displacement and the violence, and as result were forced to study in their single houses or with the help of the teachers or of its parents in their own homes.

UNICEF offered support to these children by means of the provision of scholarships to help to cover the expenses of transport, as well as the expenses of life daily in the centers of welcome near the examination centers. In order to help the children to prepare itself for the examinations, UNICEF organized classes of recovery and sessions of revision and distributed scholastic material and of study. Young UNICEF also provided to the psycho-social support to help them to make against their trauma as a result of the conflicts and the displacement. The students also received equipment of personal hygiene to stay clean and fresh during their demurrage in the welcome centers.

After than six years more military in the region, esteem that 1.75 million children do not go to the school in Syria. Some children never have seen the interior of a hall classes. The educative facilities continue being attacked as it continues the violence in many parts of the country. One of each three schools suffers damages, it is destroyed or it is used as refuge. Working with their partners, UNICEF is providing material educative and text books, rehabilitating masterful schools and enabling to extend the learning opportunities. In 2016, UNICEF arrived at around 3 million children with educative support in Syria. UNICEF also has developed a range of tools of nonformal education, as a curriculum of fast pursuit and materials of self-training directed to children who do not attend the school to help them to bring up to date itself with the lost years of education.
